Integrated Design Systems assisted The engineering and R&D team to develop the Contour 2000 Mammography System Model CTR-2000 and Profile Mammography System. The CTR-2000 incorporates a unique tilting C-arm design for improved mammography scans. The C-Arm tilting feature positions the receptor to the patient’s anatomy utilizing the natural force of gravity to make it easier to obtain amore breast tissue on the receptor plate. When combined with the 76 mm SID, the technologist is able to ac hive positioning capabilities previously not attainable.

IDS’s contribution was limited to the design of external covers and overall appearance of the Contour 2000. The pressure formed plastic covers were designed to comply with the technical, financial and aesthetic requirements set forth by Bennett’s management. Designing the external covers to conform to the massive internal structural elements as well as satisfying the range of motions required by the moveable x-ray assembly was a challenging task. Despite these challenges IDS provided Bennett with a design solution which was well received by medical community at that time.
